Thumbs down

I took mine in today, and now the air only blows on the floor. I didn't have time to wait for the corrected repair. It's amazing, I take it in with nothing wrong and bring it home broken. I think it's supposed to work the other way, right? The service manager says, "Oh sorry, when can you bring it back?" I wish there were another dealer near me, but the next closest one is over 60 miles away. Just a heads up, make sure it works correctly before driving away.

Isn't that cool how they just let you drive away and not say anything. My wife paid 200 bucks when we had our uconnect starscanned. She left, good thing I said something because it wasn't working, I didn't let her get out of the lot. It even said they were unable to to do it on the paperwork...but charged her 200 which I got back from Customer Service. She went back in and spent the day there, could not fix, next day all day another dealer her in town and at the last second before they were closing some tech finally got on it and fixed it. So around 14 hours to get it to work. It turned out the first dealer messed up the installations of something the day before...there were some rrts done also and a recall. Anyway I sold that radio and uconnect since I got a hot deal on a Nav unit I hope it's not hot well the guy who sold it to me better hope it's not hot I know where he lives! and sold my setup now the guy who bought it put it in a Jeep and they are having a problem getting it to work but I think his issue is another issue his original radio did not have the uconnect or VR buttons on it. He is having issues getting it to work in his Jeep it works outside of the Jeep and neither does a RER unit work in his Jeep so the dealer has been trying every hail mary they can. Actually pulling radios from new lot vehicles to test or wherever they get it to use? You think they have 2500 radio laying around, you have to order almost every part these days. I feel for the guy but what can I do, he doens't blame me or anything which he shouldn't and is cool cuz some people would say it was my problem since it was hard to install in mine but they tested it all in another vehicle I presume since he told me they tested it outside of his vehicle and all worked, unless they have a bench test for it? Anyway Good luck Jim....not sure if you are in here or not.

I think the problem seems to be with the computer. There is no heat, no A/C, the only control that works is for the fan speed. Also, the dimmer switch no longer controls the lights for the heat control *****. I guess I'll just have to wait to get it back to the dealer so they can reset the computer. Do you guys think if I disconnect the battery it would do any good? Would that possibly reset the computer?

Last week i got in my truck and turned the key on and heard a series of POPS coming from inside the dash. I took it to the dealer and they performed the K17 recall and replaced the defrost door actuator. They also perfoormed TSB 18-019-09 and TSB 0801809 and everything is fine now....

If you want to reset your computer pull the positive cable and hold it on the negative post or any other ground for 30 seconds. Don't worry there won't be any sparks or anything then reconnect. I don't know if this will solve your problem but that is how I do a reset on mine.

I got my K17 Letter yesterday, and then the dealership also called me telling me my Master Brake Cylinder had arrived for a recall.

Has anyone experienced reduced airflow from the dash vents after having this Customer Satisfaction notice completed? Just had mine done and now it seems like I have more fan noise and less air.

I haven't noticed a decrease in the air flow on mine... Course, I rarely even have mine on considering that the seats and the steering wheel is enough heat for me. LOL

Did they check to make sure that the blend doors on yours were not broken?

Shortly after having this recall performed, mine was fixed but soon started having issues. The temperature adjustment was unreliable - the temperature had a mind of its own. Then it became stuck on cold, no heat whatsoever. At the same time, it started periodically making a popping noise coming from behind the dash. So I removed the lower glove box door and by feeling for the vibration, found the offending solenoid. I removed it and took it apart to find the plastic gears inside stripped. It is the actuator closest to the 110 volt outlet. The part number is AA-113800-3041. POS plastic gears. So I rotated the gears by hand so they would mesh, turned the blend door to full hot air, reinstalled and unplugged the connector. Now I have heat (only).

As I understand it, the havc controller has no actuator position information other than when you turn the temp control, when the motor hits the stop, the current goes way up. Well it drives the actuator to the stops and relies on the POS plastic gears (if they are intact) binding to tell it when it is at one temp extreme or another, and your temp adjustment moves it incrementally away from there. Poor design.
