BakFlip F1 Owners - Few Tips
Hey Gang
Wanted to pass this along--
What I have found is that the shims you get are plastic, plastic forms no barrier from water. A better alternative is either A) Rubber tape that electricians use (I do commercial electrical work on the side) OR B) Outdoor 3/16" rubber weather seal. This moves the rails in more, closer to the cover, and stops the leaking by the bed rails.
How do i keep it looking good? Wax tends to distort the color, in addition if you get wax on the rubber, good luck getting it off.
One great product is Eagle One Gel Wax! It a carnuba based wax you can use on the entire cover, rubber seals and all. What this does is both A) Makes the cover look fantastic <Like the day you bought it> and B) Puts a barrier on the cover and the rubber seals to both help the water bead off the cover which helps prevent puddles which in turn helps prevent leaks, AND protect the cover and the rubber against the elements. Yes the entire F1 is placed through a LOT of Heat and tests in the desert for UV damage, but it does add one more layer.
Just wanted to pass that along, as the GEL wax I used has helped with the flow of water that use to puddle up, now tends to bead and roll off..

I use 303 Protectant on mine, that stuff is awesome. It provides the best long term UV protection for the rubber seals as well as puts a nice matte shine on the cover itself. I also use it on my dash, seats, tires and mud guards. I buy it by the gallon it is just awesome stuff. Wouldn't be without it.
