Window scratch?????
Anyone else have vertical scratches on their windows? I just got back from the dealer getting my HVAC recall done and noticed that my drivers side window has a few fairly deep vertical scratches. I remember an RRT out for the window rubbers but I can't remember if it was causing scratches or just making the window hard to roll up and down.
Any help would be greatly

I suppose the window rubber could do it. The issue with the rubber would be the outside portion would fold under, causing the rubber part, rather than the felt, to be in contact with the window. Fairly easy to tell if it is doing that. Would also likely squeek and go slower.
Thank you Car Guy
I guess I'll check my other windows and see if its happening to all of them or just my driver side.
If anyone else is having this issue please let me know what you did to solve the problem.

It is scratches on the outside of the glass I suppose. My wife got a 10' PT Cruiser earlier this year and the glass is scratching on it as well. With only 3,500 miles on the car, it is unacceptable for such things to happen. Her car is washed weekly and is never in any dirt or extreme dust that would cause this. The dealer has made it very difficult to get the glass replaced as well. They insist that Chrysler makes them take multiple photos of the problem(which glass is hard to do) and email them over for approval or rejection. BS if you ask me, sounds like same old sorry quality that has given the manufacturer it's reputation! Fortunately, in the end, the dealer is replacing it themselves regardless.
Today I started looking at the 10' Ram that I just got a week ago and it is having the same issues with glass. Keep in mind it was the owner of the dealership's demo and it has 16k miles on the clock. He always kept it meticulous as one would expect. This really puts a bad taste in my mouth! Not to mention all of the paint chips on the front bumper(sport package) and the rusted lower door hinge on the drivers door that also squeaks. On top of all of this, the steering seems to grind or jerk intermittently during low speed maneuvers and I am told that it is normal. Really pisses you off to know that the manufacturer took such short cuts to save money on a fabulous looking product.

I will not dare go back to the dealer from whom I purchased because I know that I will get screwed over pretty hard as since they know what I paid for the truck. Really pisses you off to know that the manufacturer took such short cuts to save money on a fabulous looking product.
oldjeep,
That's what I said too, but the service manager showed me a bulletin of some sort from Chrysler stating the process of submitting the photos for their review. I have worked in dealerships and the service manager should have the authority to make a call on warranty issues with "self empowerment". I guess since the bankruptcy, Chrysler wants to decline what they can to save money. According to the svc mgr, This process is used now for trim items and paint related issues. I ended up going to the gen mgr of the dealership and he is the one who forced the hand to order my glass for the PT. His actions of taking care of my wife's car is the reason I purchased my truck from them.
As for my post above, you misunderstood me, I am not saying anything about what warranty pays. It's just funny how the gen mgr got our PT fixed, but now I am back to the same old crap, but now with this truck and his answer is that "well it did have 16k miles" on it. Keep in mind that the truck had never been titled either until I purchased it. I also noticed that the driver's door trim panel leather/fabric is pulling away from the rest of the panel at the upper rear corner near the window and since it is a trim item, it is considered normal wear to them. Sorry for the rant, but BS is just BS. I am more frustrated with Chrysler than the dealership for putting out such stupid stipulations on their warranty. The dealer is trying to follow the guidelines and since I have worked at one, I understand his position.

All my windows have vertical scratches in them, huge **** off. Probably cheap glass and bad window seal combination. I mentioned it at last service and they blamed it on my bigger tires throwing gravel and road grime onto the windows... bs
