Default ECO Code 2011

Corrected by dealership as a code malfunction on other electrical items as well as the ECO code.

Isn't ECO mode 4 cyl instead of 8? It would mean you were likely going at a steady pace on flat terrain and the eco mode was helping you conserve fuel.

Not to be too sarcastic, but first read the owners manual.
Second, chances are its the 2011 version of the fuel saver light that the 2009 had.
Third, if the check engine light is not on, you most likely do not have an issue.

Default Eco

I traded in my 07 Dodge 1500 Ram Hemi for this one. Took it by friend who ran computer check and it is an emissions problem. So no it has nothing to do with running in 4 cylinders. LIght would come on for awhile then go off .. running straight on both back roads and interstate light would fluctuate.

What do you mean by, "ECO code comes on"? If it is the ECO that flashes on and off in the EVIC display, between the compass and the temperature, then it is just the MDS or "fuel saver" mode kicking in. It would come on when you are "running straight on both back roads and interstate" as you said.
You can turn this feature off in the setup menu on the EVIC, if you want, but it is perfectly normal.

Seriously? As dear Linus Torvalds (Linux kernel creator) once said:

It is simply a light that tells you that you are "saving" fuel. That's it. I award you no points, but I will indeed give you the ignorant post of the month award:

I wouldn't let your friend touch your truck any more, he clearly has no clue. Read the manual and learn the controls and indicators on your truck.

As others have said, there's nothing wrong with the truck, it's doing what it's supposed to do. "ECO" just means the MDS system is on and you're running on 4 cylinders to save you some gas.

I am guilty of it too but really that one could have saved some room in here because it must tell you in your manual that you should read before you drive it. I started asking for the manual ahead of getting the vehicle but I still didn't read it till there was a problem or a need to know situation LOL.
The emissions light does not say ECO....you are travelling in 4 cylinders when you see ECO. If you don't like it while in Park with motor running you can go into EVIC and make changes but only when in park and running. Otherwise it will say EVIC in locked. Have fun with the new truck but educate yourself before you get out there, really get into how the 4x4 works if you have it since winter is coming and well I don't know where you live but you might need to know how to use that. Well you never know maybe on the beach in the sand using he 4x4?

Wow ..................... I would really hate to see what you are gonna say when you actually do "throw a code".
