Default Lifetime Powertrain Warranty Violation?

09 Ram Crew Cab Sport with 5.7.
Recently when it is started there is a loud tapping/clicking coming from the engine. Seems to be speed sensitive. It goes away when it warms up some but sometimes comes back at operating temp.

I want to bring it in for service. I have the Lifetime Warranty even though it is at 59k still. The real question is "should I worry about taking off my truflow airtube?" I recently found out that the model that I bought wasn't carb certified when I bought it.

Seems unlikely that an airtube could have caused a problem like that, but if you are in CA the lack of a CARB sticker could be a bigger issue.

Exhaust manifold bolt or bolts are broken. I bet it sounds super loud on start up and then will go away almost completly when warm. If this is the case, then its your manifold bolts. Common problem with our dooodges

Wow. What's the problem? Just too heavy of an exhaust with no support?

There was a recall on them. Your dealer should know this and have the replacement bolts on hand and do the whole thing for free.

Yeah there was a recall but at 59K? Don't know if they will honor it even with the lifetime Warranty....Anyway, yeah I had the same noise. They changed the bolts...one was broken and the noise is gone. Well...except when I start it there is still a little ticking, but I think that is the oil viscosity thing....

No reason they shouldn't honor it. The powertrain warranty on an 09 is lifetime and the exhaust studs are certainly part of the powertrain.

There was no recall though, it was an RRT.

Yes they will, The recall follows the truck. Mine were replaced with more miles than that .
