Can I add steering wheel radio contols?
I just bought a 2011 Ram without steering wheel radio controls and I would like to add them. The obvious questions include:
-- are all AM/FM/Satellite radios the same whether or not steering wheels controls are factory installed or not?
-- Is the wiring for the remote radio controls part of the wiring harness that gets installed in all trucks?
-- Can I add remote radio controls simply by buying the bezels for the back of the steering wheel that contains the radio controls and plugging them in to the existing harness (assuming the answer to the 2nd bullet point is yes.)
I started wondering about the radio controls when I bought and installed a factory electric trailer brake controller. The wiring was already there in the factory harness--it was just a matter of plugging the connectors in once the controller was installed.
Does anyone here on the forum know if the can be done? The dealer doesn't seem to know and their pat answer, of course, is no it can't be done.

You can install after market radio controls easily enough. Never used them, so I can't really comment on how well they work.
As for the trailer control, I think you have to have your computer starscanned after for it to actually work though.

FYI, the truck's computer does not have to be flashed for the ITBM controller to work. Flashing simply enables the display of controller settings and actions on the EVIC.
