Default I'm wondering about that HUGE hole...

So I installed a Volant CAI on my truck tonight, and I can't help but notice the big stinkin' hole in the bottom of the filter box. I assume this is meant to improve airflow since the original opening in the fender is on the small side, but what about water? I can just see water getting splashed/sucked up into the filter box, which can't be a good thing...

Thoughts?

It's there for a optional "Ram Air Scoop." If that's what you want to call it. I had one for my Volant CAI on my previous Ford (yeah, yeah I know... why do you think I got rid of it). Anyway, it attaches to that "big hole" and then goes down and comes out / bolts on by the tow hook. I put it on myself, and it was a freaking pain in the ***. Couldn't really tell any difference. It did make the CAI a little quitter though. Cost about $80 - $100 more. In my opinion, I don't really think it was worth it, and I wouldn't do it again. Hope this answered your question.
