Default 4X4 Selector switch

On my 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 TRX4 the four wheel drive selector switch shows 2WD 4WD Lock and 4WD Low. There is also a neutral push button below the selector switch to the left.

What is the neutral push button for? And when I select 4WD Lock the light flashes on the instrument panel, but never stops flashing.

I just had it in for service for 2 recalls and a "SERVICE 4WD" warning indication on the instrument display. They told me they replaced a module for the "Service 4WD" problem and it no longer displays since I got it back.

Any ideas? Thanx

The neutral disengages the transfer case for towing. If the 4wd light is flashing, it has not fully engaged. See the owners manual for the procedures for putting it in 4wd.

Check page 320 of your owners manual. It describes the operation of that switch in full. It's about three pages, so I didn't feel like typing it all out here!

Thanks for the informative replies Attono and GapRunr. I didn't have the owners manual, but found it on Dodge.com. That fixed both issues.

He means when the truck is being towed by something else (towtruck, car dolly, flat towing, etc)

Exactly. It allows the transfer case to decouple both front and rear from the tranny.
