We have more horsepower and torque, but the question is,what rear gears does your buddy have.If his gears are larger than 3.55,he may get you in a shorter run,and on take-off.I have raced bow-ties before, and smoked them, even with my 11" of lift, and 37" tires..Trucks with smaller engines, are usually equiped with bigger gears,so that they will pull out of their own tracks.Trucks with higher horsepower engines usually have smaller gears for help in fuel economy, depending on model, and options.I would give him a run,but tell him your not responsible if his trucks becomes debagged, and will have to asisst you in removing all those embelems from your intake!!!
I haven't been in/around that many newer GM 1500 4x2s but EVERY one I have been has had 3.08 gears. So his launch will be pathetic. I had an '02 Cheby Z71 4x4 and with 33s and 3.73s the truck couldn't get out of it's own way.
The only places he's got you is he's a little lighter and his torque converter is a little more efficient at getting the power of the engine to the rear wheels, but they ain't enough to make up for the HP advantage you have.
You'll smoke him, but why? At least I would hope you two do this at a track and not on the street...

No need for any tuners,if those trucks have 3.08 gears. It would be lucky to pull a bologna string out of a dog's rearend!!!!!!LOL,LOL

Here are the trans gears comparisons - GM 6 sp vs Ram 5 sp. Unloaded, the GM has a huge advantage in gears as far as the tranny goes. The GM 6 sp only comes with the 3.42. Ask him what tranny he has before you race him. I drove a GM 4x4 with this gears/trans combo and it jumps off the line.
