Default bed topper options

hey guys i have a crew cab that im thinking of getting a topper on. i was looking at the A.R.E. Z series i got a quote of $2,146 with only a few basic options. is that a fair price or are there any other caps that i should be looking at i dont like the leers tailgate union so that one is out. the only other option is a bakflip but i like the extra room for my gear and being able to but the dog in the back when hunting.

Default need one also

have had toppers for the last 25 years. leer has a bad rep, but i have never owned one. eagle truck caps are common here in jersey, i have had two and found them to be problematic with the molding coming off, seals around the windows leaking and coming loose. I will stick with Jeracho, "sp" no problems on the last two. hope this helps. also that price sounds pretty high by about 7 or 8 hundred dollars, but it has been 6 years since i have purchased one.

I had a Leer on my '01 Ram for the three years I owned the truck and didn't have any problems with it (used truck, used topper off of craigslist, $160 bucks, man that was a steal).

I just got my 2010 QC and got a quote of $1200 for an ARE plain jane model (V Series) with no carpet in it, so your price seems high but again I was looking at the cheapest one my local dealer had. I didn't pull the tigger on it (got a tri-fold tonneau cover instead for $250) because I was spoiled by the craigslist price on the last topper, so I'm going to scan craiglist for a while and if I can't find one I'll save up my money and go for the ARE.
