Default removing headlight?

might be the simplest or dumbest question, but i browsed around this afternoon and am a little nervous on taking the headlight out. on the 3rd gen its no problem, but this 4th gen is quite crowded. I noticed 1 bolt behind the grill but that was all I could see.

anyone? thanks

You have to remove the grill first. There are two screws holding it in, and a release lever on the back that you can access through the fender well.

Yeah it's kinda tricky at first. I broke a clip off my grill the first time I did it, but hopefully I'll help you out so you don't do the same thing I did.

1. Remove the plastic cover that goes across the top of the radiator and what not. There are just 4 plastic type rivots holding that on. Just pull straight up on each one and they should pop right out.

2. Remove the 4 bolts on top of the grill. Once you remove the bolts, there are two clips at the bottom of the grill on either side. All you have to do is pull straight out. It might help you to pop one side then the other. This is where I broke one of mine because I pulled the top down trying to see what was holding it in.

3. Once you get the grill out of the way, you will see the two bolts in the front of the headlight. Remove those.

4. The other bolt is hidden up in the fenderwell. You will see an access door to the bolt from under the wheel well. Pop open the door and shine a light in there and you will see the bolt and there is also a white plastic lever you need to slide up or down. I can't remember which way to slides. You should be able to tell once you shine a light in there.

There you have it. It's that easy. Then just reverse to put the headlights back in. Pretty simple. Good luck.

Theres no bolt behind the fender well.. Just a white plastic slider.

I'm getting ready to do it as well. I have some new white blinker bulbs I am installing as well as some as some HIDs for the low beams.

If you have a 12in extension for your socket you don't need to remove the grill.

There are 2 bolts and a sliding clip holding the headlight on.

You can get to the sliding clip from the access hold in the wheel well.

the bolts are a little more difficult

If you working on the driver side one
1.) Remove the radiator cover
2.) the top left corner as your looking at it, there is a bolt slightly behind the grill (you can get it out with out removing grill just be careful)
3.)the next bolt is straight down the left side of the light (this is where you need the long extension) put a piece of tape over the socket hole so when you push it over the bolt the tape gets pushed into the socket. This will help keep the bolt stuck in the socket when you pull it up. (the tape will also help when your ready to reinstall the bolt)
4.) wiggle the light a little and it will slide right out.

I know that when I remove my headlights there is a bolt I have to remove from behind the headlight. I don't know if it has to do with the quad bulbs vs the double bulbs, but I don't have quad bulbs. Unless I've been removing this bolt for no reason. You guys are making me doubt myself now, but I'm pretty sure I've tried to take it out without the bolt coming out.

Maintenance section in your manual explains it. I had a hard time getting mine back in lined up to the body on the side. There is also a hole under the hood for aiming the lights.there is an arrow pointing to the hole. 9/32 socket worked for me on minimum 10" extension.

-Open the little flap door in the wheel well, look and youll see a white plastic tab, slide it up.

1-Take a rachet with 10mm if i remember then remove the one bolt holding at the top holding the headlights.

2-Theres a second bolt same side as the top bolt straight down just behind the grill, you can get it easily with a socket extension. No need to remove the grill.

3-Finally i just take a big flat screwdriver and a rag and pop the light out, once it pops out just wiggle it out, put a towel on your bumber so you dont scratch it.

Thats it take 2 minutes once you know how, did it like 10 times already haha.

So you can remove the headlight WITHOUT removing the grill? Wow, I did not know that. That would certainly make things easier for sure.
