there's no lock on my tailgate?? How tough would it be to install a new handle with a lock????

 

I haven't done it, but it's not too hard from what I hear as long as you have some basic mechanical skills. I would search the forum for "tailgate lock". I'm sure you'll come up with all kinds of stuff. Some people have even posted pictures and step by step directions for the 09.

 

Or you could buy a tonneau cover with a lock. It doesn't do much good to lock the tailgate if people can just reach in and take stuff...haha

 

I think he wants it do someone wont steal the tail gate, around here the cops busted a kid(17) ,and he had a storage building full of NEW tailgates selling them.

if you search around you can find posts that give you a parts list for the mopar locking handle. i take it your truck was built before dec 08? mine was built in nov 08 so i dont have it either but i have a leer 700 cover and it locks so i am happy.

 

You can go the factory route which gets in my opinion expensive, or an after market the still works thru your key fob . I used it Pace Edwards going on 2 years.

 

Try ebay. Every once in a while thy have Back Up Camera with lock by it's self. I think it was pull a part.
