Default Bigger Gearing

I have 3.55 gears with a 34.5 inch tire. I would like to upgrade. My brother's Tundra has 4.30 gears stock and those handle nicely. If I was to do gearing I would want them to be aggressive for city driving with the big tire, so does anyone know who makes a gear that big for our Rams of quality?

Try Googling - Genuine Gear, Motive Gear, Richmond Gear, Yukon Gear.

Lowest ratio Mopar gears for the 9.25 diff that I've found are 4.10 and unless you plan to take it to the track you will prolly be thrilled with that ratio.

Thanks man. I spoke to a Yukon rep, and he suggested a 4.56???

IMO 4:56 would be a little much for a daily driver, especially if your gonna be driving on the highway but some guys run them and like'em a lot.

Wait around and see what the others say.

I went from the 3.55 to the factory 3.92 with the lsd and it made a big difference. Really seemed to wake the truck up and they should be able to turn your tires easily.

I take it you went with Mopar parts? Yeah, 4.56 seems a little out of my need. I just want my stock, and a little more bite back. I have to drive out of Tow/Haul mode so it doesn't hunt for overdrive..sort of annoying..By the way, is that bad on the transmission ect to be in tow/haul mode all of the time, even up to like 60mph?

Will you be planning to switch to a larger tire later? If you plan on going larger i would get the 4.56. If not, the 4.10 would be good and would give you the feeling you are looking for.... Stock with a little extra kick

Rough estimates but close enuff:

4.56 calculations

Tire height change from stock = - 8% final drive ratio
Gear ratio change 4.56 from 3.55 = +28% final drive ratio

Net change = +20% final drive ratio

Original 3.55 ratio x 120% = 4.26 effective differential drive ratio.

4.10 calculations

Tire height change from stock = - 8% final drive ratio
Gear ratio change 4.10 from 3.55 = +16% final drive ratio

Net change = + 8% final drive ratio

Original 3.55 ratio x 108% = 3.83 effective differential drive ratio.

We essentially have the same truck. However I have the 3.92's and I couldn't imagine needing more. However If I had 3.55's and I was going to pay for gears I would get the 4.10's. Why not, it not much more then the 3.92 and if you go with larger tires your already set. If you buy the stock 3.92's and have the dealer install them you can probably get it warrantied. Although I do not think this is a cincern of yours so again I say get the 4.10's with a good locker. Not sure which locker because I have never ran anythin but stock.

Seems to be the safest bet. Its not a matter of $$$ in terms of which gears I pick, because its all gunna be an *** kick in labor no matter the gear pick, so I best chose a gear that is going to make me happy. I have upgraded to a bigger tire as I am running nearly a 35inch tall tire, it certainly feels its around town. I feel as tho my truck should of came with 3.92s stock, bc I was never impressed with the city driving under normal driving conditions with the 33 inch tall tire, so I think now that I have added 35s essentially, a 4.56 gear isn't totally out of the question. What seems most logical is something between a 4.10 and a 4.56, like a 4.30, however I'm not coming across that. And yes, some sort of LSD differential would be ideal.
