Full-Time Load on 1500?
Hi guys,
I'm a complete noob to posting on this forum, but have been lurking off-and-on for a few years. I'm sorry if this is an "over and over" question, but a search didn't bring up anything appropriate.
I have an '09 Ram 1500 with a 5.7L, and I absolutely love this truck.
I am faced with a decision that I don't want to do, though - I may have to turn this truck into my work truck, since that would make the most sense financially for me.
So my question - my truck would have to permanently carry a fiberglass box in the bed that will carry all my work supplies; it will most likely weigh somewhere around 1200lbs. when fully loaded. So, I guess I'm looking for opinions as to how well the rear coils will hold up to a permanent load like this. As far as I know, the company that makes the boxes claims that about 40%-50% of their clients use half-ton trucks (the other 50%-60% use 3/4 tons), but the rep didn't have any idea about how the new Dodge coils would hold up.
Thanks very much for any help. Good to be on this forum!
EDIT: I do have the AirLift 1000's, that help a lot with part-time towing, but still worried about using them full-time...

Here is a picture of my current work truck. The only difference is that the box for the Ram is 6.4' (QC), and the one on the Chev in the picture is 8':

Thanks, guys.
