I'm no know-it-all by any means, but I will back up ArticWolf on this one. I too live in Alaska, and my truck has no problems getting through snow. Ice, of course, is a different issue. If you're trying to go uphill on ice, it doesn't much matter what kind of tires or truck you have. You're probably not gonna make it. If your driveway is flat, and you are seriously getting stuck with only a couple inches of snow, then I would say there is something wrong with your truck or the way you drive, because that's almost impossible to do. I still have the stock tires on my truck and it has gone through snow, rain and mud no problem. I did get stuck in the snow once, but it wasn't powder so the truck frame kinda just sat on top of the hard snow and the tires just spun. Nothing you can really do there. Get yourself some new tires and I'll guarantee you'll notice a difference.

I changed from the 3.55 open diff to the 3.92 with the factory limited slip last fall and having the limited slip totally changed my truck and made it a lot more capable than before....I didn't use 4wd hardly at all this winter

Jayman84, how much did it cost to switch? Ive been thinking about doing the same thing. Did you have the dealer do it?

A 4X4 without a limited-slip rear differential, not to mention having a front open differential, is a sin. Every 4X4 should have at least a rear limited-slip differential AND tow hooks.

I have a guy on the inside at my dealership so I only paid for the parts and that came to about $2,400. Free install and my dealer added it to my lifetime powertrain coverage since they were factory parts
