Gas Mileage: 16-17 Km per hundred in mixed use. 21 in town. They cost a bundle to run.
Get that job and make it thru the probation period. If you want to off road something buy a truck better suited for it. These trucks are basically an oversized passenger car. Buy a used Jeep.

Assuming you get a barebones truck, and you have an exceptional driving record with the highest tier insurance discounts and you can stretch 1 - 2 tanks of gas to last you a month... I'll throw out an estimate of how much it might cost for where I live.
Payment - $450 and up
Insurance - $130 and up
Gas - $200 and up
So you're looking at $800 BARE MINIMUM! If you don't have a job, then it is a VERY, VERY bad idea to try to get into a truck. If you need a vehicle, get a used economy car that gets good fuel economy. Get a job, and save your money for a year or two, THEN buy a Ram.

also, i have convinced my fam to pay a significant sum of the monthly payments so a p/t simple job will give me (much) more than i need.

I just shake my head when I read posts such as this . . . . even after the worse economic downturn the world has ever seen, some people still haven't learned to live within their means. This financial uncertainty is certainly not over, not by a long shot. There are many people in the financial markets that believe the worse is yet to come.
This sense of entitlement people seem to have has to stop.
PEOPLE, DON'T BUY THINGS ON CREDIT WHEN YOU OBVIOUSLY CAN'T AFFORD IT!
