Stupid Question about Headlights...
Hi Guys,
Quick question about aftermarket headlights, such as the ones from Recon, for example (probably everyone knows the answer to this except me):
How interchangeable are the dual and quad headlights? I would assume that there must be some kind of new relay wiring needed, if you switch from factory dual headlights to factory quad headlights, right?
Specifically, for me, I'm thinking about getting some kind of aftermarket projector headlights, but none of the descriptions by any of the aftermarket companies say whether they directly fit a truck wired for duals or quads.
So, in other words, since my truck has duals, and I buy aftermarket headlights, will I be screwed if they need to be wired like a quad headlight? Or is this not really a big deal? Or is there actually different kinds of aftermarket lights for duals vs. quads, and I'm just too stupid to find the right ones?
Thanks for the help.
EDIT: I just tried a search for the third time, and noted that someone said that the only wiring difference is a plug-and-play relay used by the quads. Is that the only difference? If it is, then please disregard this thread. Thanks.

If you're just looking for replacement bulbs, then you just need to buy a set of H13 bulbs. I have the dual bulbs as well. If you're wanting HID's, it's the same. They sell them for specific bulbs. So you would have to buy them for your highs and lows if you have quads or if you have the duals you can buy the H13 kit (like mine) and it will work for your highs and lows since it's just one bulb. Hope this helps.
The factory duals have only one wire going into them. I have duals and when I did my HIDs, there was one plug going into the back of the headlight assembly. Inside that assembly, it splits to the two different lights.
But if you intend to change to the quad setup, don't bother. The lighting is not much better than the dual setup. My Dad has a 2009 with duals and mine has quads and truly, there was not much difference.
In fact, one time, I had my hi-beams on by accident and I probably passed two dozen cars before someone flashed me.

Wow...sounds like you might want to adjust your headlights!

But I actually posed this question because I might want to add some aftermarket projector-type headlights - and was wondering how hard it would be to "re-wire" the headlight harness, if the aftermarket lights are wired like the quad light set-up. Since mine are duals.

Thanks again!
