Is Factory Camera Compatible with MyGig RBZ
I told to the parts department today at my local dealership and they tell me they are not sure if the factory camera is compatible with the RBZ radio. I know of at least one person who has installed the camera using an AllGig. I want to know if I take it to the dealership, can they install it without adding anything. I don't think I want to attemp it myself unless someone has some really great step by step directions.
Yes it will work. I have the exact setup on my 09, camera turned on by the dealer. I think they charged me about $30 to turn it on.
Just a note, if you are installing this in a 2009, when they go to activate the camera, the selection does not show a RBZ radio since they were not available till 2010. All they have to do is use the REN code in their setup screen. The RBZ is basically an updated REN radio. That was the only issue I had with the install.
The install isn't bad at all. But I guess it depends on what you are comfortable with doing yourself.

Did you just have to run the wires from the camera to the radio? The directions talk about runing a wire to the fuse box, not sure about that. the dealership wants $250 to install and it will have a 12 month warranty. If I have to do something besides installing the new latch and running the wires to the stereo, I will let the dealership handle it.
Yes there was a wire to the fuse box. It goes to the reverse wire so the camera knows when to turn on. Not that hard to do though. You just disconnect the battery and then lift out the tray in the fuse box. It is held in place with a nut and a few clips if I remember correctly. When you lift it out, all the wires are accessable on the bottom. The directions say to cut the wire but I would just strip it a little and solder the new wire to it.
Do you have a floor console in the truck? If so, removing everything to get to the back of the radio is the hardest part of the job.

I have already had the radio out once, I do not have the center floor console.
It doesn't sound like it would be very hard to install the wire. So, you just stripped the reverse wire a little and soldered the wire to it? I wonder if this would void my warranty for eletrical if something was to go wrong. I can't imagine what would happen, the camera shouldn't draw much juice. I don't plan to do the install until mid March. I might just have to give it a try.
