DEEP snow and my 2011 Ram
to turn it back on you just hit the esp button once and it should come right back on. I have talked to my dealer and we even got on the starscan and looked around for a place to change the esp setting but we couldn't find anything, and all the "fixes" around the net involve unplugging a wheel sensor or holding the key in the start position and both turn off the abs system which is not acceptable to me. But yeah the whole deal with holding the esp off button while in 4wd does work to turn it off 100%, its in the manual somewhere and I do it every time I put my truck in 4wd.
^^^ There is no "problem" with turning ABS off its a personal preference, some like it some don't
Personally I dont love ABS but it sure is nice when the truck REALLY needs to stop and keeps straight while doing so. My 06 rubicon has no ABS but I still love the jeep too... to each his own

"All Four-Wheel drive vehicles in 4wd auto and 4wd lock modes can also choose the following esp operating mode. This is the only esp operating mode in 4wd low"
And it is referring to the full off mode. If you don't believe me then go do it for yourself.

We supposedly have a "blizzard" coming our way here in Chicago. I live in Lombard and will report back with results on my 2010 RAM 1500 with stock everything in the snow.
A side note: I took my truck off road into some VERY rugged terrain right by my house for a hillbilly bon fire Saturday night and my truck beasted thru the snow and ice like nothing. I had to get a running start to make it up a 30 degree hill. I put it in 1st gear in 4WD High and just nailed it... Forgot to turn off traction control, but that didn't even matter.

IMy Laramie is stock other than a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks snow tires (all season tires are for the uninformed). I commute 165 miles a day to work, and leave at 4am (read before they plow) I have driven through snow (one storm was 32" not counting drifts) deep enough that I was pushing it with my bumper and it was coming over the hood and freezing on the windshield, somtimes it was wet and heavy enough that the truck (chassis) would be riding on top of the snow, it got real fun,
After the stock Wrangler ATS wore out this past December I had some 285 BFGoodrich AT's installed, they cruise right through the snow here in Michigan. The other night when the blizzard hit I did use tow/haul mode in the deep stuff to drop down to 4th gear to up the RPM a bit. Worked great.
Good info here. I didn't know you could totally disengage the TCS.
As far as tires go, I hear those Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs are supposed to be awesome in the snow. Too bad they don't make them bigger than 33". I really wanted a set to go on with my 4" lift. I settled for the Mud Grapplers instead. We'll see how they do in the snow...lol

The only time I see the need to turn off the TC when in 4wd is for short uphill driveways in deep snow (like mine!).
Other then that, on the roads, even in 4wd, I see no need to turn off TC.
But, to each their own I guess.
