Changes are coming for me and my family in the next few weeks and we will be moving from Virginia to New Hampshire. We are moving to be closer to family and to allow the kids to know their family. Anyway I was driving my truck around NH last week and the roads there absolutely suck. My Load range E BFG's and leveling kit are going to need to go. I need to get a tire that rides well and can handle the deep snow. What I am trying to figure out is will I get a better ride with 17's and 33's or can I get the same ride with the 20's and go back to a P rated tire. As for tires I am thinking either Michelin's LTX ATS, Goodyear Silent Armour's, Firestone Destination AT's. Gas mileage is also a concern so I need a tire that will get my mpg back. I have been trying to find tires that weigh about the same as my stock 20's. any input from guys in the snow zone is greatly appreciated.

 

I'm up in the Boonies of NH. I just got the Michelin LTX M/S 2 tires due to replies on Tire rack. But they are not as good in the snow as I had hoped.
I still need 4x4 to get up hills. But they sure do ride smooth on dry pavement at 32 psi in the Summer. Almost a soft ride. Supposed to be at least a 60,000 mile tire. We'll see about that. I get the same Mileage as I did with the 20" stock HP's.
I am up over the top of Lake Winnipesaukee, and roads are horrendous with frost heaves, but flatten out come spring and summer. Gas by me is about $3.17 a gallon. and going up. Some stations are now at $3.20 or so.

You'll like it up here. Very laid back. At least up by me. And no sales tax. So wait to buy until you get up here. They usually do a good job plowing too.

 

Thanks for the advice on the Michelin's, I have heard they ride very well and I thought about the MS tires but was worried about the issue that you are having. I wonder if the AT's are any better? Also I am originally from NH, I was born and raised in Hill NH, a small town south of Bristol NH. I left at age 19 to join the Army and we are finally moving back. I just need to get used to those New England winter's again and the small town environment again.

 

My 17" winterforce were $381 delivered from tirebuyer.com.loud but good in snow. The 20s go on in late April til early Dec. So slight mph drop isn't that bad still get 16 ish daily drive 2 hrs a day on Vermont mts, towns and interstate.
