Thumbs up New project complete...wood bed.

So a while back I was a car show and I saw several older trucks with wood beds and I thought to myself, that would be pretty cool to retro-fit something like that. So for the past few weeks (in between snow storms) I have been working on it.

First I laid out the oak boards and the rails I purchased from Ecklers, they are made to fit a 60's Chevy pickup. You can see my little girl pitched in.

I traced the outline from my BedRug Bedmat as a template

Started to make the cuts and stain.

Test Fit

3 coats front and back of polyurethane.

Final assembly

Installed!

What do you think?? I'd post pictures of the truck, but it is so dirty right now, I am ashamed!

Looks awesome! Good job. Is that resting on the bed rug, or is it attached another way?

Resting on top. It's completely removable...with help of course.

Nice work. That is truly awesome.

Something you might want to consider and it is not expensive. In place of two of the metal strips, substitute two of these:

I have them in my bed for tying down various items.

Thanks! It was a little less than $500 bucks! That was for all material.
