Default 2009 dodge ram 1500 4x4 bearing and hub failure 50k !!

I replaced the hub, bearing and abs sensor, which fixed the problem with the abs, however the noise is still there. Dropped the truck off at the dealer and they tell me that both front wheel bearings are bad, including the one that is only a week old. I've opened a case # with Chrysler and am waiting to here back from them. Just wondering if anyone else has had any similar issues.

I also have a 2009 dodge ram 1500. I had a gradual pulsating that got worse. Got the tie rod recall thought it would fix the problem. NOT! Front bearings shot $460.00 repair at 50k. I've had 5 dodge vehicles, the first a 71 coronet. The bearings didn't go until 150k, and thatbwas only the outer beaings (cheap) I see the 2006-2007 have a recall for this exact issue. They better have one for 2009, or I'm going to raise hell! $460.00 is only for one side too, I'll be replacing the other myself since I am an auto mechanic. The worse part is the tire is ruined since it has worn elliptically, another $260.00 the only way a bear g goes bad at 50k is if it was made in CHINA !!! Today's repair is the first time I haven't fixed my own vehicle in 25 years !!! Oh, another thing for you 2009 owners. The plastic idler pulley bearing will fail around 45k (made in Korea)

Dealers make money when they do warranty work so if it is covered they had no reason to not fix it? I don't get it when people think the dealer trys to screw you out, when it's warranty work.

Bearings are junk anymore. Both my fronts just went at 45k and bone stock 09' Ram Sport. My dad's also went at 50k. My cousin has a F-150 and his went at 50k. I talked to my mechanic and he said he has replaced thousands of bearings on trucks all around 50k. He said it doesn't matter the make, Ford, Chevy, or Dodge they are all using junk wheel bearings. I am going to fight with Dodge to try and get this covered under warranty. It is ridiculous to pay $30k+ for a pickup that has such cheap and light duty parts. Among the other things I'm fighting for is rust issues/cancer in rear wheel wells and truck bed sheet metal crushing/denting above rear wheel wells from being too thin.

Just got off the phone with Dodge and they said wheel bearings are not covered under power train. I argued but they didn't budge. I asked them if they thought it was crazy a wheel bearing fails at 45k. They said it is not uncommon. It pains me but you are told "buy American" but they are junk. I've had a lot of problems with this truck and have owned Mopar vehicles all my life. The quality on these pickups is pretty poor and service to stand behind the product has fallen in line with my experience thus far.

According to the warranty - they are covered on a 4wd but not on a 2wd.

No, they told me they only cover up to CV joint. Very smart because that is the weakest part. Mechanic agreed it should be part of the drivetrain but they have it figured out. He said the worst thing they did was sealed things up with no more grease fittings. He said they have it all figured out so things break down in steps and you'll be spending your money. I tend to agree with him. If you haven't had that problem then you are lucky.

Well, the warranty book says axle bearings. In any event 91K miles and I haven't had any unit bearing issues, typically they are good for 100-150K. I guess if they are not covered then I would just pay the $125 for the timken part and replace it myself.

I had the front right hub replaced at 97k. Before this, it had a grinding sound/ feeling whenever you turned left and tires started getting cupped. Tried for lifetime warranty coverage since it is a 4x4 but apparently only the 'unit axle' bearings are covered ?? Also had a leaking front right shock and had both fronts replaced a while back. Now I drive easy when turning onto the local highway on-ramp. Wheeling around this exact same left turn with a down grade for the past 5 years to go to work basically blew out right front shock at 80k and wheel bearing at 97k miles.

Axle bearings differ from wheel bearings. I'm scared to use this truck like a truck. It will fall apart. I've babied it already. God forbid when I need to use it like a truck. Now the bigger issue of rust/cancer of sheet metal to tackle.

I had a small bubble on my hood just at the front crease above the headlight bezel , also had paint blisters on the right box panel, went to the dealership and they took pics sent them to Chrysler , about a week later the service manager phoned me to say they were replacing not repairing the hood and rear panel, had the work done in Oct. new hood, rear panel, and 2new wheel well liners, great job done under warranty so yes They do back there product up.
