Default backup camera-reverse wires?

I just bought an aftermarket backup camera & will be installing it myself as the install looks pretty straight forward. I do however need to know which are the positive & negative reverse light wires?
I searched this subject & found lots on the "backup camera", but didn't find anything on the actual wiring of the unit.
Thanks for your help!

Darren

It's been awhile since I did mine, but if I'm not mistaken there are only two wires, one black and a white one with a stripe. Match the black (ground) to the ground from your camera and receiver and the other one to the white wire and you're set.

FYI, when I installed my LED tail lights the plugs didn't fit the harness, and I had 3 wires to deal with. Ground is easy since it's always black, but I didn't know which of the others was positive vs. negative so I stripped a little insulation off one of them and touched the wires together (I figured worst case I might blow a fuse but that didn't even happen). It was the wrong wire but nothing happened. I taped it up, tried the other one and success!

OK, black to black & camera postive to white with stripe. I think I am good to go, thank you very much Gary for your reply, much appreciated!!!

correct, its easiest to trace the wires directly from your taillights. They take 2 minutes to pull out max

Not sure that is the proper way to wire it for these trucks. You need to wire into the TIPM if I am not mistaken. There is lots of info in here on that. Goodluck

Hello Mr 72combo, I am not familiar with the term or short form "TIPM". Some enlightenment on this would be nice as I want to install correctly. Why can't it be connected to the backup lights? Does it not just need to get power to the unit when the vehicle is put into reverse?
I tried to do a search on this again & I can't seem to find what I need, maybe I am doing something, or wording it wrong?
Thanks,
Darren
