You're an idiot if you think that they are going to bother answering a question like that. They have been making dipsticks that way forever and they don't just snap off for no reason. I've got 40 year old trans dipsticks that still seem to be surviving.

Chevy 'is' Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, IE: "GM". My 2001 Ford F-150 did not nor does Nissan or Toyota. I'm not wanting to make a big deal about it, I just think the design is flawed, just like the vanity mirror lids.

The rivets don't break. The metal cracks around the holes the rivets go through. I can remember over time fishing many out. Either a very small needle nose or a thin piece of hard wire with a little bit of a hook bent into the end. Don't remember if a dipstick tube ever had to be removed. Removed them from G.M. and Chrysler vehicles. Remember several a year for years and years. I remember a few techs kept a small hooked wire in their tool box for such. I use to remove them on the service drives for customers. Been years, I almost forgot about broken off riveted dipsticks.

Wow, your so informative . Do yourself a favor.... take the stick out of your *** and get over yourself. Better yet, I can tell you where you can put your 40 year old dipstick.

I m sure this design will work fine if your not beating the crap out of your dip stick while your removing and inserting it back into the dipstick tube. If your really worried about it I am sure a local welding shop will TIG weld it for a few bucks. If it comes apart after that then something bad must have happened to it

Surely it is so they can use the same handle on several different applications but require a deeper dipstick like the trans one in a van. like 5 feet long it seems.

lol...this thread got ridiculously our of control. It's a damn dipstick. Who cares. If you don't like the rivets, then steal one from someone else's truck or something that is a solid piece. I really don't think it's a issue. I've never seen a thread on here about broken dipsticks.

If you notice it getting loose at anytime, purchase a new one, then there's no need to go fishing. Or like another member said, get it tig welded.
