Default Remove plastic bed rail cap

Do these just clip into place or are they held with some type of fasteners?

Thanks,
Rob

The bed rail has a series of slots/holes along the top. The caps have molded studs along thje bottom that go into the holes. You can see this by looking at the underside of the rails from the bed of the truck.

OK, thanks. So they are just friction-fit into place?

My truck isnt here right now, or i would go look at it....
Soooo, you`re sayin that ther`s a bunch of holes in the top side of the bed rails just for those stupid plastic covers....?????
If thats the case, so much for de-railing a ram for a cleaner look.
Off to the bodyshop, weld in the holes, paint.... derailed & clean.

Somehow I think it will be a matter of more than welding holes. JMHO

OK, I took a look up under there now that the weather warmed up a bit. I do see the plastic clips coming through the bed rail. They look to be 'squeeze and release' type clips, right? Are there any that are difficult to reach, such as at the very back end of the bed rail? Any double-sided tape to worry about under the cap?

Thanks,
Rob

You could always order a new pair and sand them down and paint to match. You'd have to do the rear spoiler on the tailgate too. They probably arent that expensive.

Thanks for the info, but I'm not looking to replace them with something else or to change the look. I just need to pull them off to allow a little body repair on the bed side. If I pull the plastic and bumper off myself it cuts the body shop cost by several hundred $$. Besides, I like doing my own work whenever I can.

I'm just looking for tips on how to remove the rail cap so I don't destroy anything.

Rob
