Hydrogen, anyone try it?

I know someone who put it on a V6 Silverado and got 12%. Granted, nothing like they claim, no different that CAI vendors LOL, but still an increase. For me 12% would save me $250+ a year @ $3 a gallon. If you take into account the ability of it increasing octane levels I could cut another .10 per gallon as well.
The two things I wonder are....
Performance increase.... If there really is one. I could measure real world with my SC data collector. Just did not know if someone else had done it already.
Long term effects. That is basically just all discussion. No one knows for sure, if they claim to they are BS'ing. Sort of like asking what the long term affects of smoking would be in the 1920s.

Here is an interesting site on the subject.

I can’t remember which show (myth buster, or other) that basically showed what the article stated that it takes more energy to produce the hydrogen by splitting water than what the burning hydrogen produces.
The H generators have been around awhile. The question that comes to mind is with all of the emphasis by the Feds to increase mpg, wouldn’t the car manufactures be jumping all over this technology if it was so great to improve the fleet mpg? IMO, someday we will see fuel cells for cars, this is not it.

I have wondered if this had worked also for some time, but one thing I remember is big oil companies buying up patents also to stop producing items , anyone remember Smokey unicks hot vaporizing engine ?

I'm far from an expert on hydrogen generation but common sense tells me that something they advertise as the size of a motorcycle battery couldn't generate enough hydrogen to feed a V8 engine and actually make a difference. One of their other advertising points is that their device "Produces more HHO gas" - the last time I checked, HHO is water, H2 is hydrogen gas.
Just my $0.02. YMMV

I have the proof it does work with the person I know running it in thier Silverado. So proof of concept is not really a question in my mind, although their outrageous numbes are certainly in question, but as I said, all vendors do that. Just did not know if anyone had tried it on their Ram.
I am of the belief that the oil companies have headed off other technologies as well, of course I have no proof of that. If I did I would expect a bullet in my chest.

this article is from 2007. it is pretty interesting. i have been thinking about installing a hydrogen generator in my truck but i am to cheap to buy one but i have most of the stuff to build one. just have to build a sealed unit which is the hard part.
A 5,000-pound vehicle that gets 60 miles to the gallon and will do zero to 60 in five seconds!
Last summer, Imperium Renewables contacted MTV's show Pimp My Ride about creating an Earth Day special in which Goodwin would convert a muscle car to run on biodiesel. The show chose a '65 Chevy Impala, and when the conversion was done, he'd doubled its mileage to 25 mpg and increased its pull from 250 to 800 horsepower
