Default Help with a stock hitch

I bought my 2011 a little over a month ago and it didnt have a hitch factory installed. AQ buddy of mine offered me his 2009 stock hitch, because he was rear ended and one of his tabs was bent a little. This is the full hitch, not the little bolt on bracket looking thing. what is the weight limit of the 2009 hitch? I'm reading 5000 lbs with out weight dist...is that true? seems a little low.

Thanks
Ed...

The factory "big" hitch is a class 4 which should be 5000lbs non weight distrib/10,000 with weight distrib.

I'm definitely no expert on hitches, but I believe the weight distribution hardware is provided as the hitch insert, not as any part permanently mounted to the vehicle. So, if you use a standard ball hitch insert in the truck's receiver the capacity is X, and if you use a weight distributing hitch insert the capacity is Y.

Here's what a weight distributing hitch insert looks like:

ok thanks guys. I just figured the hitch could take more of a load without the weight distribution setup....
Thanks
