Electric Fan
Has anybody looked into replacing there cooling fan with an electric one? i was watching extreme 4x4 today and saw an old episode of a 2nd gen dodge that had 8mpg turn into 16mph. they did some other mods to and i am not expecting anything like that for gains. these trucks are smarter and probably have the mods they did to that truck are already in place with our trucks today. the electric fan is the only option that really intrigues me as the fact there might be a HP gain as well as fuel efficiency. what are your opinions and thoughts as to what kind of gains one might see
yea they got a half mpg from that, 1.5 i think it was from shaving weight. 2 or 3 from changing gears. couple from changing over the front hub bearings to the type to actually making them free wheeling, and like 2 from adding a vacuuum gauge and modifiying their driving habits. and don't remember the rest of it now .
These trucks do have electric fans. It are inside the mech fan shroud on the radiator. I think there primary function is for the air conditioner but they would help with engine cooling as well. Electric must not be the answer or I would think they would do it from the factory.
I had nothing but problems with the controllers when I put efans on last truck. Went through 3 in one year. This is one mod I have no interest in doing again, besides, one is already electric.

There are 3rd gens that have benefited, but those only had a manual fan, not both like ours. With that said it should help the 4th gen as well, but I would not do it unless it was a proven kit.
