Default u-connect

so i just picked up a u-connect kit for my RES radio and instaled it noproblem. but i now find out that the dealer has to enable it with there scan tool. i didn't want to pay the 120-150 that they qouted me at the dealer where i bought the kit. so how much is it for activation on the star scan. i cant believe its not plug and play.

Ask your dealer what he'll charge to activate it.
If your a good client with a history of loyal patronage at the dealer he might do it free as it will only take about 15 minutes to activate.
For some reason this is a premium feature that Chrysler controls through there dealers. I research this when I installed this feature in my previous truck, and bit the bullet for 250.00 and let the dealer do it all.

Nothing is plug and play on these trucks. Even switching to the mirrors with turn signals requires a star scan.

Anything you do electrically with these trucks has to be flashed for a price. I had the RES and was going to add the bluetooth kit, but for about $300.00 more I bought this Pioneer Avic 920-BT Head unit from Crutchfield, and never looked back-

Very nice but very good target for a break in plus looks like you lose and inch of screen? I like the factory look and they sound great as far as I am concerned. Now you might as well just let them install it also since you would get a year warranty now I am not sure what you get..It shows half hour in the cd that comes with it for star scanning so they should not charge more than 100 bucks to do it, That is roughly an hour labour. When I did the same as you it took 2 dealers 7 hours each before the second one found out the problem in the last 5 minutes of his shift. Anyway got reimbursed for the charges from first dealer and gladly paid the second dealer the one hour. If they can't get it working they will tell you that they have to check your installation, in fact they might tell you that before..not sure of your relationship with service. Anyway good luck, and just curious where did you mount the mic?

I mounted it right on the dash behind the coulm shifter can't see it and should be good for reception I hope. It looked dumb where the factory wanted you to put it. Still think the kit should of come with a new mirror like the factory comes with

Ya I wonder how many people would tear apart all that to locate the mike, I just took out the RAM sign on the bezel and used a file and made a spot in the corner just enough for the MIC wire to run thru and stuck mine there, same colour as the bezel and really not noticeable and works great, they work great as long as you don't have the windows wide open or the blower on high otherwise they work fantastic.
