transmission, transfer case, and front diff leaking... need help
ok guys, need some help. i have an 09 sport 4x4 quad cab with 21,000 miles. still under the 3yr/36k warranty with lifetime drive train.
ok, i have kept an eye on it, but its just starting to get sort of nice in MI now so i crawled under the truck again. im pretty sure their is a RRT for a leaky seal on the front output shaft or whatever its called on or by the front diff?
secondly i have a significant amount of fluid on the rear part of the transmission and the whole underside of the transfer case is wet, im not talking about massive, all the fluid is gone wet. BUT its more than a little spot of fluid on the cases.
so, if i take it to the dealer is this an automatic fix it situation? or will they give me some kind of run around about its normal to have some leaking etc?
i just have never had to warranty anything like this in my life yet, so just checking. thanks for the help

only fluids that have been changed are the oil and wiper fluid. lol
also. the truck is a "city" truck. never been off roading. does mostly highway driving. probably have used 4x4 a total of 12 times or so in 2 years of ownership when it was snowy.
yeah, i know its not normal, i was more curious as to how a stealership would handle the situation....

At 35k, I had the transfer case seal replaced, noticed it was wet and a fluid drop on the boot of the front drive shaft that goes into the transfer case. It had just recently been at dealer getting front and rear diff fluid changed and they never noticed it. I had crawled under was looking for any leaks before the 36k mile warranty was up.

I don't think the dealer would give you too much of a hard time. These components aren't supposed to leak and are covered under the power train warranty. I'd be booking an appointment ASAP. I find that dealers will be more inclined to take this warranty work if their service department is slow as they don't make as much money off you. So get it in before the spring service picks up.
I had the recall done for front axle seal at about 20,000 km and have never noticed any leaking oils from any component. I do my own oil changes and clean the pan and engine after each one. I also inspect the undercarriage for problems. Maybe the pan bolts weren't torqued properly from factory or something. At least you caught it now and can do something before it gets to be a problem.
