Default Trailer electric break controller

I have had 3 Dakotas and now a new BIG truck. I am new to this site, 1st post. Just bought a 2011 Big Horn and I am having problems with the dealer. I have several questions. I need to pull a trailer with electric breaks and can't find the plug under the dash to plug my electric break controller into.

1. Have bought the truck back to the dealer twice and they say there is a plug to attach to my controller and it plugs into a plug under the dash, "Plug and play" . I put the pigtail on my controller and can't find the plug under the dash. I have taken the truck back to the dealer twice and they say they can find the plug and I should take it to U-HAUL and have them install the controller.

2. Looking at a past post, I came across a post Integrated trailer break controller-finally. Will these controller fit my, part# truck controller 56029431AG and bezel 1EB13XDVAA? Are the plugs for this controller easy to get to, are they behind the little box on the lower left of the dash where the factory controller goes?

3. Is the dealer correct in telling me, that you can't put the factory controller on and it is only a factory installed option? Is there a way to use my old controller?

4. What is EVIC?

Thanks BUD

I have a video on the subject. Type in "bleuetamoosejaw" in the youtube search field. On the video you will notice that the plug is taped up high behind the dash. Directly behind where the controller would go.

EVIC = Electronic Vehicle Information Center (or something similar)

It is the main display of info in the center of your gauge display. You're either viewing status information there or using it while you make changes to the setup options of the vehicle.

In reference to the trailer brake controller, people talk about the EVIC because the factory installed brake controller displays status info in that section of the dash display. If you buy the Mopar kit and install it you need the dealer to update your truck's computer to recognize it and display stuff there. You don't HAVE to do that to have the brake controller work, just to see the status stuff in the dash.

Default DODGE kit for Dealer add on of Brake COntroller

Dodge has finally made a available a dealer install kit for the integrated brake controller for 2009 and 2010 trucks. Thats the good news, the bad news there is a back order log of over 500. So many people have asked for this and have tried other methods to for example purchasing a replacement module and installing it. (This invalidates electrical warranty)

The Dodge part is 82212548. Here is one link with some info: http://www.leeparts.com/2009_dodge_r...ontroller.html

I have seen them for around $195. It must be installed by the Dealer so they can activate it to work with you dash electronics.

Buying a replacement module DOES NOT VOID the warranty, this is completely FALSE

If your dealer told you this go to another dealer

Just had the Mopar brake controller installed on my truck this afternoon. I couldn't bear to think about mounting my other one into the trim of my new ride. I found it through Action Van and Truck World in Peterborough, Ontario.
Very happy witht the look, EVIC doesn't recognize it, I guess I'll go and see what the dealer will charge me to let my computer know it's there now. I want to know what the EVIC tells you about the status of the system. Anyone out there know? Thanks.

I ordered mine through mopar-wholesale or something like that for just over $100. But my question is is the controller in the mopar kit the same one as the replacement one that they wouldn't let us buy? Just wondering if they did actually change something or is it just a 'kit' so they can double the price.
