Question upgrade diferential to 3.92 costs?

I have 2010 1500 Laramie 4x4. Can anyone give me an idea what it costs to upgrade from 3.55 to the 3.92 limited slip diferential? parts and installation.

Local shop near me, who has done a couple of 3rd Gen owners' trucks who are on DF charges $600 per axle for gears, install kit & labor. Add about $450-$550 for the LSD in the rear depending on the brand you go with. Been about two years since I've sent anyone there, but that was the price then.

BUT I wouldn't consider going from 3.55s to 3.92s. Too little difference for the cost involved, IMO. The few guys I know of who did that change all wish they had stepped up to at least 4.10s...

Hammer is about on target with the estimate. Just basically budget 1K per axle and you'll be good. And I totally agree with him on the jump, just going to 3.92 won't be enough to justify the costs. Especially if you're planning on some day to add bigger tires, 4.10 or 4.56 will really make a difference. I'd really look into the 4.10s. You can get higher gear sets aftermarket, but 4.10 is the highest you'll be able to go with a MOPAR gear set.

Before you do it, make sure you do your homework on the shop you're using. I didn't, and it bit me in the butt bad. In the end I had to get another shop to fix the total screw up 4Wheel Parts did. I've only got a 4x2, but in the end it cost me around $2200 to get everything I wanted. Fortunately the second shop was able to save the LSD, so that helped save some cash at least.
