hound dog just curious why you say to replace the stock filter with a stock filter and not a K&N drop in

Simple, it does a better job of removing stuff from the airstream.

I agree.I'm not persuaded with the fact of an aftermarket air filter.Think about it,the more air the filter lets in,the more dirt as well. There isn't any significant boost in horsepower with an air filter swap,so don't neglect your engine.

All that K&N will do is make more noise, cost more and not filter as well. On www.bobistheoilguy.com most all oils that have analysis done show higher silicate levels with those type of filters then quality paper filters.{sand/grit} I use to use them a number of years back. Then I got a little more knowledgeable. They are pretty much a waste of money.

K&N - high cost, high maint and don't filter as well as a stock one.

To be honest I'm not a fan of K&N and their oiled filters. I have an AFE dry filter cold air intake. It's nice. I like it.
