Default Engine swap 2004 - 2010

I have a 2004 4.7 liter 1500 that I am looking to put a new engine in, all the used part dealers imply that a engine from 1994 and up will work. I found a 2010 with 7K miles on it. Are these engines interchangeable? I am concerned because of the 6 year gap that the computer/electronics might not be the same. Please help...

You are correct. You would have to change damn near everything but the body and frame

ask them to show you the interchange manual which shows that those years are a direct replacement. otherwise you could be doing anything from a minimum of swaping sensors to a max of major issues. i dont know anything about 4.7 but just from past experience with swaps. I find often that the interchange manual is conservative in that it only says if things are exactly the same, there may be more that will work with some additional effort.

I have decided to have the engine rebuilt. I think that is the best way to go since in used engines you don't know exactly what you are getting. Also no confusion about whether it will match up.

Thanks for your help and advice.

Default Blown 2010 dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi motor

Hi, I went 4 x 4ing and blew my motor, i would like to swap the engine myself due to the fact that i can't afford the 20 hours labor that my mechanic is quoting me, just wanting to know how long this would take, and is there any way i could use a motor that is under the year 2010?

PLEASE HELP!

THANKS.

G

well you would have to use your old electronics, question is will those bolt up or not.
if the block castings did not change then you should be able to.
