Default Exhaust Question

Hey everyone. I have a 2011 Ram. I have the regular exhaust. Not the factory dual. My brother and I ripped off the resonator and the stock muffler because I plan on replacing the resonator with a piece of pipe. Then put my stock muffler back on. Im on a budget and just want it to rumble a little bit. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this before. Also, does the resonator serve any purpose other than helping with sound and emmisions? I live in P
ennsylvania if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance!

It only has to do with sound - not emissions.
