Exclamation Exhaust Question

Would I gain power if I swap out the factory dual exhaust with true dual exhaust or would it not be worth it? I have read that swapping the muffler on the factory dual exhaust only changes the sound and doesn't really give much of a horsepower gain. If I don't gain any real power then I would just change the muffler.

I just changed out my muffler with a Magnaflow part #12288. 3" in dual 2.5" out. I have factory duals,2.25". I have noticed a big difference in low end torque. I would say that there is a noticeable increase in horsepower. Sounds great too.

On a factory motor, no you wont really be gaining much by going to true dual exhaust. Your factory Hemi simply isn't moving enough air to justify the extra flow out. You would actually feel like you lost a little bit of power by doing so in my opinon.

Never change exhaust based on performance. You'll never feel anything different than it was from the factory. The sound change and your brain's way of thinking will tell you differently. I don't care what you say, but your body can't feel 5HP gain in a large heavy truck that's already making 400HP at the crank.

Larramie1997 is half right... changing your exhaust from the cats back will probably only net you about 5 hp. Changing it from the engine back can gain you a couple-three dozen, which is easy to feel.

LOL frogger, I was unaware that we were talking headers too. I know that with a decent seat of headers and an aggressive tune, you can actually pick up around 100HP on these motors...

Would think you would need a baby cam and a little more work to get that high, but I concede the premise...
