Default Fender Trim or Flares Need opinions

Ok, I am new to the site and need some opinions-

My 2011 Ram recently took a shot to the front left fender that cracked the paint so I have to put some type of either flare or trim to cover it. Don't really want to go the repaint route as some rocks were already banging up paint in other places too. Today I have these chrome trim pieces on it....I am really not too sure how I feel abou them. I am also considering just putting on black OE flares from bushwacker. Please take a look and give me your feedback....thanks! Also considering leveling the truck but dont want to loose ability to haul heavy trailer with my jeep.

Thanks

Not to bad looking, looks pretty decent with the silver.

I keep toying with the idea of putting wheel lip moldings on to protect those edges of the wheel wells too. Since you are covering cosmetic damage stay with these but check some pictures of other trucks with flairs for a better perspective and see what you like best.

It is funny looking at your picture, the rear wheel looks smaller than the front.

Thanks, you are right about the rear wheels, I think that is because the 4x4 has the back end setting up too much which is why I am thinking of leveling it too. I think it may have just been the angle on that picture.

Never liked the trim. If you put on flares with the stock rubber/rims only put on flares like the stock ones. Big flares with tires that do not need flares are UGLY.

You said it cracked the paint... Did it dent the metal? You can fix a crack easy.... Just get touch up. Then put several coats in the crack with a brush until the crack is built up higher than the paint surface. You can then use 1000-1500 grit sand paper to wet sand the high area down to the same level as the paint. You then rub with rubbing compound, polishing, then wax....

When you wet sand you want to concentrate on the high area. Best to put the sand paper on the tip of an eraser of a pencil or a small handheld eraser.

I backed into a snow pile that was hard (ice) and put scratches in my bumper.... You can not even see them anymore!

Man I just washed my truck and saw a few chips in my paint and was coming check out some kinda protection for mine and saw this post. I agree with CarGuyOhio. I like the way the rims and tires are flush now. Gonna be a tuff decision but it is def. one you need to make based on your own taste.

I think it looks really good. I'm thinking of doing the same thing, but then of course I'm a chrome type of guy.

Thanks for the comments, I think I am going to stick with them for now. They are growing on me and I know I am going to get more chips even after I fix these as I tend to drive in gravel a good bit. I do like chrome as you can see from my truck. If they dont hold up, I will probably go with OE black flares. Painted ones are not my taste, but I know some like them and that is cool with me. Please keep the feedback coming and post any pics if anyone else had tried this option.

CarGuyOhio, you are right about big flares with stock tires, I dont like them either.
