There have been posts on this before. Either this forumn or other Dodge sites. That nut has got a depth it is suppose to be. Pinon depth. If I'm not mistaken, its not just a torque setting.

Pinion depth is set by shims between the pinion gear and inner bearing.

Between the outer bearing and the nut would normally be a crush sleeve which sets the pinion bearing preload, so you have to be carefull about just tightening down on it. There is a torque setting for the initial crushing of the sleeve.

it depends there have been a couple of problems,a few pinion nuts have backed off but most are due to the lubrication problem on the pinion bearing, it doesent get enough fluid and the bearing seizes and cause the pinion to screw up the diff.there is a recall if your vehicle is effected but the parts are on major back order.it includes a new diff cover and a channel that gets inserted to redirect flow to the pinion bearing

That recall is for the 2011 model only. Has to do with the new style diff cover, its not working out so well.
