Default Installing Leveling Spacer- Ball Joint just spins

Tried to install my leveling kit but i couldnt get the upper ball joint out. It just kept spinning when i turned the nut. I tried using vise grips to hold it in place but that just ripped the boot f... And now i cant get the ball joint to tighten back up... hopefully it will be ok to drive it a short distance? I made an appointment for this friday to have a place do it... They are only charging me 200 bucks to put the front in rear in... I was out there for an hour messing with this thing and im fed up with it.

If it is spinning then chances are good that you have roached the taper in the knuckle/spindle.

Have you tried using a C Clamp to hold it from turning or can you? You may need to jury rig some adapters...just a thought.

take a big pry bar and place it threw the control arm and have a friends pry down or up depending on the ball joint. it will squeeze it enought to hold it normally. if this doesnt work go get a tank of map gas from the hardwear store and heat the nut until its red that will expand it enought to let it spin faster then the ball joint.

Hold the main nut with a wrench (pretty sure its a 21 mm) and put a ratchet with a 10 or 8 mm socket on the end of the ball joint stud if you havent stripped it out yet
