I bought mine wit the trim bezel for $107 from mopar-wholesale.com. took 5 minutes to insta and works great. You only need the sales code added if you want to see it show up in the EVIC and/ or use your steering wheel buttons to control it.

Thanks for the tip. I couldn't look up the name or part number on mopar-wholesale.com site, but I called them and they found it right away. Part number is 56029431AE for the controller and 1EB13XDVAA for the grey Bezel (I don't know what the tan Bezel part number is). $107 plus shipping. I have to go in and get my plates from the dealership next week and I am hopping to sweet talk them into adding the controller to the VIN and flashing the chip.

You can use steering wheel buttons to control it? Sorry a little off topic...

I do have factory installed one, and I will say that I see no difference in having it on the EVIC does. I had an aftermarket one in my 07 pulling a 30' holiday trailer and rarely did I ever touch the thing. All I ever did was use the quick boost for downhill, and manually testing.

The only thing I could of them really really needing the controller hooked to the ECM is that everything is now recorded in your box. So in the event of a collision while pulling a trailer they can prove if it failed or not, or if in fact your trailer brakes were actually working. More tickets I guess...

So I mean if it costs that much to get it flashed, and hooked in, I would not worry about it.

The factory one just fits so nicely into the dash looks good and you dont bang your knees on it.I suppose an aftermarket could be easily built into the pocket with the right unit and some ingenuity.

Default Brake Controller install

Brake controller arrived from mopar in about 4 days. Took about 45 minutes to install, but the dealership (who really wants my service business they said) wants $140 to flash the computer. I think I'll skip the flash.

That's ridculous. As I stated before I paid $76 for install and flash.

+1. I bought mine from here. http://www.dodge-wholesale.com/catalog/

Paid $110 with shipping and got it in one day.

Had it installed last night in about 5 minutes. Hardest part was finding some screws in my box of screws that would fit.

Heading to the dealer tomorrow to get mine programmed so I can have it in the Evic.

I guess I won't be going to the dealer afterall. They want $80 just to program the thing in the EVIC. That's just retarded.

I think I can live without it showing up in the EVIC.

Default Brake Flash

My understanding is that it is a two part process. Step one is to get the VIN updated to include the brake box, just like it would have been if it had been installed by the fctory.

Secondly, computer needs to be flashed in order for the controller to show up in the EVIC. I believe that the first step determines what gets added to the flash and what updates are made.

Anybody know of a way to at least get the controller added to the VIN (a web site or a contact at Dodge that would do this without charge). If this was possible, the next time you need to go in and have your computer flashed (as I am sure will happen at some point for a recall or other reason), the flash will include the brake controller.

Any ideas out there.

I found a dealer in the area that said he will do it for free if I bring in the directions.

From what I understand they just have to go into dealer connect and add code XHCA to the "Dealer Installed Integrated Trailer Brake Controller" and then download it to your truck.
