HID install was not as hard as I thought
was a little scared installing the hids and removing the headlights on my brand new truck, but had some serious down time, so i went ahead with it and figured I'd share the info.
-with the hood up, remove the cover that covers the radiator area (has some pins in it that pull up with some force
-remove the 4 bolts holding the grille on (10mm socket)
-with the 4 bolts removed, the grille is held on in 2 places at the bottom, note where they are and keep the grille pulled out at the top towards you while prying right below where each plug goes in. as long as you keep it tilted forwards and pry right under the spot, it comes out no problem.
now the headlight
-2 bolts also 10mm in the front, one is easy to get to, the other may require an extender.
what holds the back of the headlight on?
-inside your wheel well is a little hatch door.
if you stick your head in along with a flashlight, you will see:
1) a silver bolt (i believe also a 10mm, but dont hold me to it)
2) there is a white upside down t bracket with a black pin (that comes off the back of the headlight). the upside down t bracket, gets pushed up to allow the black piece to slide in and out.
with the t bracket up (unlocked), and the silver bolt out, the headlight now easily pulls out.
bulbs are all housed within, which means the wires are eternal. so do allow for the hid ballast to be outside the housing I drilled 3/4" holes in the back, but if you have a 1" that will work too. i used a dremel to oval out the round hole to allow the clips of the hids to slide through. you can then use the round rubber piece on the hids to seal the hole then caulk it or w/e you want to.
wish I had taken pictures, but it is an other wise pretty easy install. I didnt know about the t bracket the first headlight so i broke the black plastic pin that feeds in but discovered it on the second one.
pretty straight forward, so for those of you who have been thinking about this, here you go

One more thing... if you have a Sport make SURE to tape the top of your bumper beneath the grill really well so you don't scratch the bumper cover and the grill pops out or as you're putting things back together. A little prevention is priceless.

No flickering issues. But there have been other problems. One of mine changed color and another blew out. HIDExtra was good about replacing things under warranty. They have a good system but I just don't think the quality is on the high end. I guess it is what I expect for $45/pair though, considering Silverstar Ultras aren't THAT much less and they are just normal bulbs.

i've had nothing but bad experience with HIDextra, so I went back to the company I always used before ddmtuning.com. Not to mention i have hidextra 5ks in my fogs that are way bluer than the ddm 5k's i have in my heads that are diamond white, way more pleased with ddm. Not to mention everytime i've bought from hid extra I always end up with a bad ballast, etc etc.
my recommendation, ddmtuning.com $45 for slim ballasts

I pulled my set out of my old 07...It was an ebay set, I don't really know the make, but it seemed really good quality, put out the exact light color and whatnot anyways. The only issue was the flickering. It was a 55W set which the seller was sure would prevent flickering , it didnt, they sent me some resistors, still didnt work. Then I purchased a set off ebay that claimed to work they didnt either. I then proceded to order a set from HIDextra, That was 2 months ago and I still have not received them today, luckily they were only 5 bucks.
Now my question is does the computer work the same way on the 11s? Should I be concidering new HID kits to make sure or?

Just a quick question for those of you that have had your QUAD headlights out. Can you just confirm the type of bulbs used? I want to do a HID conversion, I have my kit from my 07 dodge. Are they the same bulb? Also are the fogs the same? Just want to confirm before I start to pull them out.
Another quick question is im kinda wanting to replace the "driving" light with a blue LED? I know its illegal here in alberta, or so I have been told, but the amount of times the sheriffs stop you for that is pretty low. Just wondering if it would be possible?

So im going to order some kits, but I think im going to do both bulbs HID. Question is when I talked to my supplier he says I did not need a relay harness on the 11. Did you use one? Or did you just do a direct pull off the factory plug. From my understanding of what this guy was telling me was that the high would plug in on one side and the lows on the other.
Another thing is if I do the highs, they act as the driving light as well, which constantly turns off and on. I know its bad for the ballast, and the bulb. I do plan to tune it once bullydog gets a tune out and turn those off, (with the GT you can do that) but would it cause lots of problems to run them like that till bullydog comes out with one?
