Default Another Tire Question

So I have 42,000 Miles on my Stock Goodyears and I still have a good amount of tread left but with the post on here that I saw for the sale at Fleet Farm I am interested in some Cooper Zeon can I get opinions on these and if anyone deals with Fleet Farm on a regular basis do they do this sale often? Also I hate the Goodyears because if it rains I completely loose traction never mind how they perform in the snow!

I agree, those Goodyear are the biggest POS they ever made!!!!!!! I don't think I could stand them for 42k miles.

i've never owned a set of the Zeons, but they were very highly recommended across all the GM forums i used to frequent (came from a GM). also a buddy of mine has them on his 2006 Ram and loves them. they look aggressive too, which i like. what's the issue with the stock goodyears? i see them getting bashed a lot and i'm getting nervous at the though of keeping them for the upcoming snowy winter here. any specific thoughts on them in snow conditions?

I drove them through last winter. They were not great, but not bad either. I think the biggest problem most have is that they simply don't last very long, and they get scary really fast when they start to wear. I will take each winter as they come, but won't hesitate to put on a better tire if/when I need it.

Well I bit the bullet and ordered them from Fleet Farm couldn't pass up the deal they were $199.95 which was pretty much cheaper then I could find anywhere else then with the buy 3 get 1 free it was $599.85 and I live in the North East so had to have them shipped but had a promotion code I found online for free shipping and they accepted it so I got the tires for the $599.85 with no tax or shipping I didn't think I could pass up that deal even if I don't mount them till the stocks wear down a little more will be putting 6K miles on the truck over the next 2 months so maybe be just in time for winter.

A little late for you, but the answer is that Fleet Farm seems to offer the buy 3 get 1 free sale 3-4 times a year. The last one was in early April and I found a reference to another last fall. You've got them ordered now though, so I guess that doesn't matter.

The stock Goodyears have been pretty crappy for me in the rain, snow and mud. I don't have to go off-road much, but in the fall/winter when I do I don't want to be fighting for traction because I'm probably pulling a Bobcat or other trailer.

The Cooper Zeon LTZs have a pretty good reputation across the Internet. When I was researching them I didn't find too much negative - at least no anymore than most other tires. They get talked up for decent traction and relative quiet (certainly will be louder than the stock car-like Goodyears, but nothing like most all-terrain tires). My stock tires have under 22K on them but they are getting down there in tread depth. I don't think I'll push them into next winter. It will suck to have to replace them under 30K, but sometimes you just have to make the right choice.

Good deal! I paid over a thousand dollars for four Goodyear SRA LT 275/70R 17's (MS for light mud and snow) mounted. Yeah, my regular SRA's were crap too, but these have very deep tread and better pattern and I like them. They came out in feb 2011 so hopefully they are retuned to last and work well, lol!
