I have the BFG A/Ts in an E rated tire on my truck. Holy sh*t does it ride rough. Maybe as rough, or even rougher as my dads 2011 2500 Laramie. I tow a 9000+lbs camper and they made a huge difference. Plus this spring I got a golf ball sized rock go right through the tread on the stock GYs. I can't believe that the vehicle manufacturers get away with putting "P" rated tires on a 4WD truck capable of towing 10Klbs.

The Cooper Zeons mentioned here are XL-rated tires in stock 20" size. There's still on sale through 8/13 for $599.

An "XL" rated tire is the heaviest rated "P" (passenger car) tire rating and falls right about where the lightest common "LT" (Light Truck) tire rating ("B") would fall.

A good choice for a pickup which is used not used for towing/hauling or off-road use, but not the best choice for a tow vehicle. Where I think a LT tire with an "E" rating is a bit much for a 1/2 ton pickup, I think a "P" tire with an "XL" rating is a bit light for the OP and his intended use.

For the OP I'd recommend an LT tire with a "C" or "D" rating.

Ratings are as follows:

Passenger car tires:

LL = Light Load
SL = Standard Load
XL = eXtra Load

Light truck tires are classified as "A" thru "F", but you almost never see the A or the F, so common tires available will fall between a B & an E rating...

Nothing wrong with putting 65's on your stock rims. Your speedo will be off about 2 mph.

If you have a Superchips tuner I believe you can do that. Otherwise the dealer should be able to make the adjustment in the computer, possibly for a small labor fee.

Just put a set of the Cooper AT3's 275 65 R20 on mine and I love them. The ride is a little firmer but not harsh at all. Plus they are super quiet on the highway. The extra height really helps fill up the wheel wells nicely and there is no clearance issues at all. I did a lot of research before I bought these and I couldnt be happier. This is a relatively new tire for Cooper so if you go to their web page there is a ton of info on these tires.
