My 2011 Maserati has 'orange peel'.

It's a pickup truck, not an exotic. Get over it.

Seriously?? Thanks for the 'advice' keyboard troll- feel free to hit the back button if that's all you have to offer. And by the way Captain Obvious- you must have misread my previous post (#9 in case it's too difficult for you to find) where I stated- "I can live with minor scratches/dings- yes they are irritating but I use my truck as a truck, and will wax/compound as needed."

Orange peel as someone said does not increase over time. You probably have bird **** up there that stayed too long...who looks at their roof? Or could be some other thing like sap or something. Everyone is so quick to blame the vehicles.

Orange peel isn't any sort of paint peeling. It's simply a faint texture across the entire paint finish...many people don't even notice it. I don't doubt you have an issue, I'm just saying it doesn't sound like orange peel. Post some damage area pictures and we can get a better view of what's going on.

Had my truck since the end of november 2010, when I went to give its first wax job in august I notice that the roof has been repainted, lots of fish eye and dirt on the roof, I went to my dealer and the paint shop manager agrees qwith me that its been painted but he know noting about it, so now chrysler is involve since I was not inform att the time of sale, they may end up taking it back.

If you bought it new you easily could have parts repainted in the factory, but they are not obligated to tell you. I it gets repainted to factory standards so you have no leg to stand on. The only thing is obvious issues you can come back like for instance I had a Patriot Blue Dakota and they had issues with thin paint on those, they repainted everything except the passenger door. I knew someone that knew someone and got a lifetime guarantee on the paint but not rust just the paint itself, I should have kept that truck.
If it is new just have them fix it under warranty what is the issue? Unless I missed something.

I tried to take some pics with my iphone but they are all fuzzy (iphone 3gs pics stink!). I'll try and get a better camera later, but I will say this- the spots are VERY noticeable. I got my truck back from the dealership yesterday (fixed my power door lock that was shorted out), but they are waiting on word from Chrysler on the paint issue. I'll update ASAP on their decision.

Also, my truck already has a couple of chips, scratches, and 2 small dings- all of which I can live with, but when it comes time to sell my truck these spots can be touched up. However, the peel spots will require significant (maybe even costly) repair. Further, I know these spots will be the first thing any potential buyer will notice and will be hard pressed to buy my truck. I know I wouldn't buy a truck with paint like this unless the price was significantly lower than market/selling value. In the end, if Chrysler agrees to repaint my truck- great! If not, I'll make due as I still LOVE my truck.

What peeves me most are people who say 'deal with it' or 'get over it'. Why should I or anyone else 'deal with it'??? Many people actually care about the appearance and/or mechanical performance of their truck and I know they wouldn't 'deal with it' if there was a chance their dealership/Chrysler might actually own up to the shoddy work/design and make reparations.

Nah, you don't "deal" with anything. You pay good money for the vehicle, you expect it to be flawless. Society has gotten lazy both on the manufacture and consumer end. You fight them until you either get the thing the way you expected it to be or you exhaust all your options.

If someone's expectations are unreasonable, they'll strike out with the dealer and the chain all the way up. Hopefully if they are not, they'll get satisfaction...

Does your paint's 'orange peel' look like this:

Obviously not that intense, but that look? If not, what does it look like? As others have said, orange peel doesn't just happen over time. It is a paint application issue. If you know the area was 'perfect' originally and then this happened it is not orange peel. Still love to see pics.
