Nah you don't have to use a panel popper they just come in handy if you ever need to get panels off. Less stress on your hands and less of a chance of breaking things.

While I did not goto HID's I just replaced the low/hi and fogs with Silverstars this weekend and it makes a huge difference.

I did Ultras in the low/hi and regular Silverstars for the fogs and I can now drive with just the low beams on and the hi beams actually make a difference now. I took my time and did everything in 1.5 hours but it was totally worth it.

I agree that having to go through all of this just to replace bulbs is a real pain though.

Also here's my ....Before I got HID's when I wanted some better light, adjust the headlights up a bit using the adjuster screw! It makes a difference even with the stock P.O.S. bulbs...Pop the hood you'll see a hole w/ an arrow pointing towards it. shine a light down you'll see a torx bit screw T-20 or T-25 (Don't remember off hand sry) and turn it clockwise about 3 turns drive and see how you like it, keep going up till you start getting flashed then come back down one turn (counter clockwise that time).

9?!?! Holy crap haha, I eventually went to five...but it makes a hell of a difference, I don't know why Dodge aimed them so low from the factory...

Ya, and I probably could go up another 2...the bulbs seemed dull when I bought it and coming from HIDs in my 07 I just had to put HIDS in this one. I put them in and was still upset! I still was not getting any light out, then I adjusted them up, man a big difference...

I think it might have something to do with safety standards, I know in my area EVERY car owner that I know has complained about some guys trucks headlights are too high. I do agree some guys go over-extensive, but because the dodge trucks sit so high im sure they have to aim them real low to maintain that 10 foot beam or whatever it is...I think it has to do with some of the car owners out there too, trucks are getting higher aiming beams in their rear view mirrors more. Well we have to see too, and its not our fault...imo

They aimed them low because dodge still thinks people buy a truck to haul with.
Someone should call them and let them know they should get with the times...lol.

I just did mine the other day and just put some tape on a 10mm socket to get the bottom bolt on the side of the grill, to hold it while you loosen and pull it out. Also having a magnetic tool helps also. I put some blue painters tape around the fender also to make sure nothing got scratched. I had both buckets out bulbs replaced and back in, in less than a half hour.
Did the same, a magnet to get the bottom bolt and make sure to have a clean wheel well to access the slider or wear gloves. It took almost an hour for me as I didn't have a good writeup like above and wasted most of my time looking for the slider in the fender well. I didn't touch the front grill and the service manual helped a bit.

yea, it is no where near as hard as you think. I was pretty intimidated at first, but after some quick looking its not hard at all. the post careful part is just tilting the grille forward at the top, then prying one clip at a time on the lower, just keep your hands right at the clip area and you'll be fine!
