Default Max tire size that will fit OEM 17x8 wheel

Ok. I know I have read here I believe this question, but here goes again. I've asked the dealer, a tire shop and Chux Trux, and ALL I get is no, maybe, yes only with spacers. I have 009 1500 quad 4x4 with oem 17x8 wheels and 265/70
R 17 tires. Will a 285/70r17 fit without mods. I am looking at Nitto Terra or Dune grapplers

The easy answer is , yeah, probably.

Best to measure clearances from all sides, and all different turning angles, to see how much clearance you have.

Most reputable tire shops wiill be willing to test fit, before mounting them all. Then, recheck the clearances.

I have an 09 Laramie. I sold the factory 20's and purchased factory 17's. They are 17x7, and come of an '10 Ram SLT. I am currentlt running 285/70/17's without any issue or rubbing. I already put on about 10k on em.

I went to NTB today and they pulled out a BFG AT and it definitely is a much bigger tire. They wont do a free install without doing a pre-purchase. The rear appears ok, the front might be an issue. So Ill find a dealer that will do a free install on the front and go from there. I love the look of the Nitto Dune Grapplers, but sadly I get snow here and even though Ive read Canadians love those tires, Ill stick to the BFG or Nitto.I will hate loosing mpg as now I get 20.2 at 70mph. Ill keep updates as I can.
