If I was you I woulda got the 3.55 axle or even better the 3.92 i have the 3.55 in my 2011 express and wish i woulda got the 3.92. The limited slip is good for me but it live in a snowy area if you dont get much you wont care. I had a simalar experience with the dealers knowing nothing about this package when i was looking there was only one in a 150 mile radius of me.

1. dont know i have 3.55 and their not bad.

2. I do not have an underhood light, but my SLT deluxe bench has a small light in the ceiling which puts an ambient light over the area with the cup holders. this is only noted as a small hole in the overhead area where the map lights are.

3. dont know.

4. the remote start can be added at the dealer, and dealer needs to program it in. i had dealer install mine right after i bought it.

5. dont know

Hey guys new to the forum, I find this thread pretty interesting-- I'm looking into picking up a Ram Express and have several of the concerns previously listed. However, is there someone on the forum that has a ram express and willing to post pictures?

I can't find an express on the lot to save my life! Even worse I can't find any pictures of the interior.

So my issue is I'm coming from a fully loaded Lariat Super Duty, and I feel like any vehicle in my price bracket will be a downgrade ya know.
I want a short cab/ short box 4x4-- I'm not much for creature comforts as long as the vehicle doesn't shake my bones like the current truck (I could handle that when I was younger, in fact I liked it, but now its just annoying). But the problem is, I've never owned a Chrysler product, and after being spoiled with a loaded vehicle- I don't know what the difference between 'loaded', 'well equipped', and 'express' exactly is.

My main questions were:

1. Is it worth the coin to get the cloth/carpet/ upgraded radio vs. the standard interior

2. Does it come with power windows? Locks? Simple stuff like that.

3. Would I be better off buying a base model sport vs. an optioned out express

4. Are the ramboxes worth the money compared to the wheel well mounted diamond plate boxes that are half the price?

I test drove a bighorn package crew cab-- it didn't seem very fancy but wasn't bad at all. How does an express stack up against the big horn? Not all the small stuff, but major differences.

Lastly, the local dodge dealer didn't know squat about the express and said he's never seen one before. Is this a new package/ not popular/ what's the deal here?

Thanks guys, I appreciate any feedback.

Erik

i didnt read your post because it was too long and I didnt read a reply, but from everything I've seen.. unless the stealership has the truck at a steal of a price, its not a fair price at all.

the express from what i've seen and read, is the bare-bone work mans truck, and if not bare-bone, just your basics. but yet its at a rip off a price.

but i will tell you this: GET EVERYTHING YOU WANT FROM THE START. when it is worked into your off the lot price it is worth it. if you go to put it on later, the costs will add up quick. when you get it from the start, your almost paying a fraction of the actual cost just because they want to get the truck sold. but later your paying full price on each part.

i know the underhood light and all is part of a package (reason i drove to upstate new york to get my truck) that only adds $180 and is well worth it.

***** Go to google.com and search dodge ram express photos
Standard interior is a two tone vinyl set of seats. They look like fake leather seats. You get alot of standard options, tilt wheel, 20" wheels, Hemi Engine, 6 speed auto trans, front and rear painted bumpers, dual exhaust..ect...

****The new Dodge trucks have a better suspension for the rear end. They now have coils suspension vs. the old leaf springs I believe and the ride is nice. 'Express' is supposed to be a Muscle/sport truck you can buy with minimal options and customize yourself with option packages and over 200 items from the Mopar catalog.

My main questions were:

1. Is it worth the coin to get the cloth/carpet/ upgraded radio vs. the standard interior

**** YES, you also get 1 yr. free susbscription to satellite radio, and cruise control in that package along with cloth seats, and carpet with floor mats.. It costs about $600
The Standard interior is two tone vinyl seats (fake leather look) and rubber floor covering.

2. Does it come with power windows? Locks? Simple stuff like that.
**** That is another package. About $600. It gives you heated power mirrors, power windows, and power door locks, and remote entry keychain.
Another good option is the 'Trailer brake group'. Its price is cut to $300 if you order the cloth interior. It has 4 wheel pressure sensors, electronic trailer brake and display, instrument cluster gauge package, and EVIC display.

3. Would I be better off buying a base model sport vs. an optioned out express
****I'm not sure if the sport comes in a short box, regular cab 4x4.

4. Are the ramboxes worth the money compared to the wheel well mounted diamond plate boxes that are half the price?
**** I have no clue, I am ordering a fiberglass cap and bedrug for mine.

I test drove a bighorn package crew cab-- it didn't seem very fancy but wasn't bad at all. How does an express stack up against the big horn? Not all the small stuff, but major differences.

**** I think suspension, Hemi engine, and 6 speed trans are the same.
I think the Express is marketed more as a sport/muscle truck.

Lastly, the local dodge dealer didn't know squat about the express and said he's never seen one before. Is this a new package/ not popular/ what's the deal here?

**** Ram claims sales of the model are good. The model was introduced second quarter of the 2011 model year. (mid year). I find most salesman at car dealers are newbies and have minimal knowledge of what they are selling. I find this at most brands, not just Ram.

Thanks guys, I appreciate any feedback.

*****If you search the web, there was an issue of speedchannel tv show which featured the Ram Express. Also, at the bottom of the Offical Ram website there is a link to Ram Express with photos and details. Lastly, look around here and see what you find.

Erik

***I hope these replies help. I am replacing a 2005 Ram Rumblebee sport truck with this Express I ordered. I liked the 2005 so well, I am trying to build a clone of it. The express with some options comes pretty close, and has even more HP and a better suspension.

Makes me wonder where they are selling them. All you see around here are crewcabs and a few quad cabs. Only regular cab 4th gens I've seen anywhere are the work trucks at Fastenal.

The dealers here in Michigan are getting them in stock now.
Most have 2 or 3 in their stock to look at.
This wasnt the case a few months back.

The Speed channel said it was 'Dodges- Muscle Truck'.

I'll be getting it for my truck in a month or two.

The upper glove box can be added but the last time I looked they were about 260 bucks so I have been watching ebay hoping one will pop up.

The EVIC is on all models I believe that shows your fuel economy as well as tire pressure, trans temp and all the other info but no compass. My truck is an ST and has all of that. I have a 2500 Cummins but surely the half tons have it also.

Good luck with your truck I really like those Express trucks.
The Express truck does not come with EVIC..

EVIC comes with the 'Trailer Brake Group' which is $550
You get Trailer brake and display, 4 wheel tire pressure sensors, EVIC display, instrument gauge package, and Cruise control.

The group only costs $300 if you also order the ST Comfort Cloth interior which also includes Cruise Control.
