Default ? after gear change

Ok. Im getting ready to switch to a 4.10 gear from 3.21. I have a superchip flashpaq that i can reflash the truck with. Do i need to do it at the shop right away ? Or can i just drive it like normal ?

And people say to put truck back to stock before i go back to dealer for service. Can i do this and be ok ? I know the speedometer wont be affected, but does it mess with anything else ? This is a big step for me and i appreciate all the advice from you guys on this forum. You really know your trucks.

First of all where are you getting your gears done? I had 4.56 installed at a dodge dealership and when i got the truck back and went to install the superchips my gears were already set to 4.56, that means the dealership flashed my truck so it would have 4.56 set as stock.

Everytime you bring you truck in to the dealership always and i mean always put your truck back to stock using your superchips. They won't know you have it but just gotta make sure you bring it back to stock.

Once you get the truck back you can then adjust your settings to what you want them to be.

BTW your gonna love your truck again after that gear change

Im not having it done at the dealership. They dont know what they are doing.

So, other then that, i dont have to worry about reflashing it right away and trips between dealer when i set it back to stock ?

Also, why is it important to reset to stock when going back to the dealer ?

No you don't have to flash your truck, you can drive on the stock setting all you want. To be honest I'm not even sure what the gear change option in the superchips programmer do, I'm thinking like your case you go to 4.10 it might change some settings in the shifting of things but not sure. I know it doesn't affect your speedo.

It's important to reset before going to the dealership because 1) they might see that its chipped and void some warranty work and most likely blame everything on your programmer that would potentially break on your truck. 2) if your truck is tuned before you bring it in, and by some chance they flash your truck with a new update, then your programmer probably won't be compatible and u'll find yourself calling superchips customer service.

There is no flash for gear ratio. Its read off the tone wheel at the differential. You do need to adjust for tire size but not gearing.

Im checking with another dealer. Maybe its best if i have them do it since im using oem parts anyway. Its just that i checked with one dealer and the service manager acted like he was lost.

Yeah it's not every dealer that will do that. I first asked my hometown dealer at first and they also looked lost. They told me to wait until my warranty was over or until my rearend pooped whichever comes first. About a month after that my rearend pooped like it knew i wanted to change theM. I was travelling to bc and dealer there had done some before so I got lucky.
