Default Felt like truck falling apart!

Have any experienced putting left rear window down on your Quad cab at 50 or so mph? I got the most severe vibration, buffeting noise I have felt in a vehicle. It shook the whole truck and it seemed a tire or the differential was falling apart! Got home, took wife for a yard. She was WOW! Never felt or experienced such. I had pulled over with hazards on knowing something bad had come apart. Roll glass up all is OK.

Yup - major helicoptering in my truck if you open only a rear window in the crewcab. If I have a front window or the slider open then no problem.

Utterly ridiculous. Shakes the whole vehicle and you'd think, feel something major is coming apart.

Just about every Chrysler vehicle I have owned recently does this. I crack the back window so my dog can put his out out if it, but have to roll down a front one as well to stop the buffeting. My wifes car (Jeep Patriot) does it even worse.

Happens in most modern vehicles, its a side effect of the aero dynamics. Take any full sized vehicle or sport utility for a drive and lower one of the rear windows.

Well they need to put WARNING signs all over the those windows. The noise is one thing but it shook the whole truck. Between the two until you realize whats doing it I was hunting a place to pull off the road in traffic. Couldn't find a spot and was cautiously going another mile or so to a convenient store. With hazards on. I did not realize at first that I had put window down. I'll say again, utterly ridiculous.

Warning signs? Really? Where would you put them and what would they say?

"Warning, the bernoulli principle does apply to this vehicle - so don't get scared when opening a window causes the interior air to be sucked from the vehicle"

As bad as it was it was and not funny. I could see it scaring the you know what out of owners. It just about did me. Trying to find a spot to pull over on the side of the road. It could be dangerous. One hellish noise and vibration.

Suppose it can suprise you if you have never experienced it before - but it really does happen in most vehicles with 4 windows.

Do a little google search on: wind buffeting window and you'll see everything from smart cars to mercedes owners describing the exact same thing. Basically the air rushing past the window opening sucks air from the vehicle which creates a vacuum pop as some air rushes back in.
