Default getting a new engine from chrysler

Well Ive had white smoke coming out my tailpipe upon startups for almost a year now. Ive taken it to the dealer several times to get them to check it, only to have them say they cant duplicate the problem. Just within the last week or so Ive noticed a sound almost like a baseball card flapping real fast coming from the engine upon acceleration. And a few days ago my wife and I were on our way back from a funeral viewing and exited off the freeway, stopped at a stop sign when I turned and got going again it stalled and a huge cloud of white smoke came out the tailpipe and it kind of come out of the stall and was fine for the rest of the day. The next day the very same thing happened so I took it to the dealer this morning and they had it all day and called me and said the engine is knocking and they are going to have to put in a new engine. He said it falls under the lifetime warranty so dont worry. Thank God. my truck is a 09 ram 1500 and has 58k miles on it btw

Really if it runs good sometimes like that sure sounds like a repairable item. Probably some electrical part.

A week or so to get this job done...???????? Go out behind their shop and see if any of the employee`s are sitting at the picnic table smokin dope and drinking on the job. The dodge dealership i use to work at, we had a motor job done the same day, customer picked up their vehicle that afternoon or the next day..! Times sure have changed.

I think it depends on how the dealership is run too...I had mine in for warranty work on my deck, didn't end up going to the dealership that I bought it from cause it was going to be a week and half just to get the truck in there. Went to another dealership, guy did it on the spot half an hour done....

Some dealerships book differently. Some just work priority, some actually book proper times and base it on first come first get in service. I also know some that will do all the minor jobs first, once those are done get back to the engine overall. IF someone comes in for a tuneup, they are off the engine job doing the tuneup.

To me a week seems about right esxpecially with christmas coming up Sunday. you got to figure they have to ship it and the parts and everything to. I dont think they have engine just sitting around in the back.

A week sounds pretty good to me. They've got to get a Ram/year specific motor shipped to them before they even think about swapping it out.
